Synopsis

A hospice nurse spends her last shift before retirement sitting with a patient who turns out to be the man who destroyed her family.

Diane has spent twenty-two years helping people die well. On her final night before retirement, her last patient is a man she recognizes — the drunk driver who killed her daughter in 1999 and walked away with eighteen months. All the Soft Exits unfolds in real time over a single eight-hour shift, asking what forgiveness actually costs and whether it was ever ours to give.
